Dr. Penuvchev received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto in 1996. He is a 1997 graduate of the Postgraduate Program in Esthetic Dentistry from State University of New York at Buffalo. He also obtained his Fellowship in Implant Surgery from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and Temple University. In his free time, Dr Penuvchev enjoys attending Professional Development Courses to improve upon his skills and knowledge, Dental Research, playing guitar and coaching his Sons' sporting activities.
Dr. Penuvchev was born, raised, attended schools and currently lives in the neighbourhood he serves, with his wife Vera and three sons, Peter, Matthew and Nicholas.
General Dentist, DDS
Dr. Shabotynsky received his dental degree from the University of Toronto in 1971 and started a practice in Ottawa. After returning to Toronto in 1975 to get married, he assumed the practice of the late Dr. Art Histrop at the Lawrence Park Medical Centre. In 2006, Dr. Grant Joyner and his practice merged with Dr. Shabotynsky’s to create Avenue-Lawrence Dental.
In 2011 Dr. Shabotynsky became one of the founding members of the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health and has been pursuing that approach to dental care ever since.
Dr. Shabotynsky and his staff welcome the new opportunities and benefits that will come from the merging of his practice and Dr. Penuvchev’s practice at our modern expanded facility on Avenue Road. We are all looking forward to working together and providing the best dental care for our patients.
General Dentist, BS, DMD
Dr. Vivian Wu graduated with honours from the University of Michigan in 2006 and received her Doctor of Dental Medicine from Case Western Reserve University in 2011. Upon her graduation she completed a General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center in 2012. She worked in private practice in New York City for several years before relocating to Toronto.
Dr. Wu believes that it is important to stay current with the latest technology and advances in dentistry in order to provide the best care for her patients. She has attended numerous continuing education courses and seminars. She is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, Ontario Dental Association, Canadian Dental Association and American Dental Association.
In her spare time Dr. Wu enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family. She lives in the neighbourhood with her husband Jonathan, son Michael, and dog Buddy.
Periodontist, BDS, MSD, Dip. ABP, FRCD(C)
Dr. Shereif Zareif Tawfik (known as Dr. Said), a periodontist, completed a periodontics internship at Case Western Reserve University in 2012, following which, he started his post-doctoral training in periodontics with a special focus on growth factors and peri-implant tissue. Dr. Said completed his periodontology training in 2016 at Boston University where he was a Clinical Assistant Professor in the post-doctoral periodontology department for 5 years. He transitioned to full-time private practice limited to periodontology and implant dentistry in Toronto, Canada. Dr. Said is both a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Dr. Said is a renowned periodontist as he lectures internationally and has published multiple refereed articles and book chapters on the topic of anterior implant esthetics, with a focus on minimally invasive and cosmetic regenerative procedures.
In his spare time, Dr. Said enjoys spending time with his friends and family, playing squash and travelling to beach destinations where he has recently taken up wakeboarding as a new hobby.
